Nancy O'Dell's initial work in the industry of broadcast was as an anchor and reporter at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she worked at WCBD as an anchor in the morning and a crime reporter. O'Dell's reporting on the lax response of the police towards DUI instances in Charleston led to an investigation being conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, that led to a revised policy from state officials regarding DUI cases.
